USM Modular Furniture at LDF
Modular furniture + timeless designs: that has been the principle behind USM since its inception over 40 years ago. Furniture for both the home and for office environments which is created from just a few basic elements. A tailor-made solution that can be expanded or reconfigured at any time. Each piece of furniture allows room for individual versatility and creativity.
The USM Modular Furniture Haller System was created with origins in architecture: engineer Paul Schärer and architect Fritz Haller collaborated in developing a system of furniture based on modular architectural structures combining elegance and technical perfection. Today it is considered a design classic and has been acquired for the permanent design collection of The Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Growth in all directions: a chrome-plated brass ball joint is the central element of USM’s Haller system. Chromed steel tubes connect to the ball to form a stable framework in which the powder-coated metal panels (available in 11 vibrant colors) and internal organisational elements are mounted. Each unit is customised from the standard components to satisfy the individual user’s requirements. As one's home or lifestyle evolves over time, any unit can be dismantled and reconfigured or expanded with additional components - USM grows as we do.
During the London Design Festival 2012 Aram is hosting an exhibition showcasing the versatility of USM Modular Furniture: display shelves, bookcases, media units, coffee tables and desks.
The exhibition runs from 14 to 22 September on the ground floor at 110 Drury Lane.
