Jean Prouvé

Born in 1901 in Paris, Jean Prouvé was trained as a blacksmith and eventually opened his own metal workshop in Nancy 1924. During World War II he was forced to diversify in to wooden furniture due to the scarcity of steel and helped to develop frame houses. Until his death in 1984 Prouvé was busy as a lecturer, architect and furniture designer. Prouvé is best known for his Standard Chair for Vitra, sold by Aram Store
