Take Carafe by Kanz. Take is a series of glassware aimed to create usable items that did not prioritise aesthetics over function; rather, decoration would enhance the usability of the object. The rings that adorn the body of the carafe, at first glance appearing to be mere decoration, are in fact measurements for liquid content and provide a firm grip. The first ring indicates 25 cl, the second 50 cl, and the last signifies 75 cl - equivalent to a standard bottle of wine. These rings are handcrafted by a master glassmaker who heats and shapes the glass with precision, creating ribs on the surface of the cylinder. The Take carafe takes inspiration from bamboo trunks, reflected in the design of the nozzle which emulates a Japanese fountain. The swinging arm of the bamboo fountain, which falls rhythmically under the weight of water and taps against the stone below, creates a distinctive sound that serves the purpose in this design.
