Vitra Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman with black chestnut shell by Charles & Ray Eames in large dimensions. The Lounge Chair is one of the most famous designs by Charles and Ray Eames. Created in 1956 it is now a classic in the history of modern furniture. Since 1956, the Eames Lounge Chair has combined ultimate comfort with materials and workmanship of the highest quality. In the tradition of the English club chair, which inspired this classic design, the original appearance of the Lounge Chair was defined by a dark wood veneer and black leather. With a black coated base and a black leacquered chestnut shell in a choice of leathers or fabric. Choice of Premium F grade upholstery leather. Vitra Premium F leather is a pleasantly soft, sustainably produced semi-aniline leather is available in a selection of twenty-two colours. It is processed with a tanning agent extracted from olive tree leaves (a waste product of the olive harvest), and the entire production process is carried out with the least hazardous chemicals in the smallest possible amounts.
Choice of Natural F high grade upholstery leather, a very soft cowhide leather with an untreated grain, in six colours. It is porous, breathable and acquires a lively patina through use. Olive tree tanning agent, as above.
Choice of Nubia, a blended fabric with a very lively, natural appearance. Its fine substructure is interspersed with voluminous bouclé yarn, which gives the fabric depth and a soft, inviting touch. The varying combinations of yarns yield either contrasting or calm colour compositions with a distinctly Mediterranean flair. Available in eleven colours.
