No 1 Two Seat Sofa

Model 201 was designed in 1955 by Børge Mogensen as the first sofa for Fredericia. With the No 1 sofa, Børge Mogensen fused his signature minimalist aesthetic with elements typical of the 1950s, along with new functional details. The result is a sofa that exhibits a familiar yet distinct personal character, that transcends the whims of fashion. Børge Mogensen used the combination of a tightly upholstered frame with loose inner cushions in both the seat and backrest. In this feature, he highlighted the properties of the different parts of the sofa. The contrast between the rigid frame and soft seat and back cushions adds a new layer of functionality to the design as a whole, as the cushions can easily be removed for cleaning and maintenance
