Description

The Arne Jacobsen Egg chair is an instantly recognisable Danish mid-century design classic. Originally created for the lobby and reception of the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, it represents Jacobsen’s ethic of ‘total design’, contrasting with the building’s perpendicular surfaces. He was the first to design a strong foam shell, prototyping it himself from clay in his garage. The genuine Arne Jacobsen Egg chair is made by Fritz Hansen and is available in a very wide range of fabrics and leathers, all of which suit its sculptural shape, paired with a swivelling and tilting star shaped base of satin polished aluminium, with or without an auto-return mechanism.
