Description

The Aluminium Chair is one of the greatest furniture designs of the 20th century. Designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1958, the Aluminium Chair stands out for its intelligent combination of materials. The covers are attached inside the aluminium profile sections and simply stretched over the frame, transforming them from mere coverings to a load-bearing part of the structure. It adapts to fit the body snugly and delivers great comfort, even without extensive upholstery. Vitra has produced the Aluminium Chair programme for many decades to a consistently high quality. On the basis of this experience Vitra grant a 30-year guarantee on all chairs of the Aluminium Group. Available in a variety of leather and fabric colours with either a chromed or polished aluminium swivel frame.

Vitra Premium F leather is a pleasantly soft, sustainably produced semi-aniline leather is available in a selection of 22 colours. It is processed with a tanning agent extracted from olive tree leaves (a waste product of the olive harvest), and the entire production process is carried out with the least hazardous chemicals in the smallest possible amounts.

Vitra Standard leather is a robust cowhide leather, dyed-through, pigmented and embossed with an even grain pattern. Since it is hard-wearing and easy to maintain, it can also be used in office environments, and is available in 16 colours.

Hopsak is an expressive, flat plain-weave fabric made of polyamide that is durable and robust. The duotone colours offer a multitude of design possibilities in high-contrast, brightly hued or subtle combinations of warp and weft threads.

Frame in either polished aluminium or chromed, with felt glides for hard floors.
