Vitra Home Stories

for Winter 2024

World-famous Swiss manufacturer Vitra is synonymous with ground-breaking 20th Century design. A family business for over 80 years, the campus at Weil am Rhein, Germany, has grown to house the Vitra Design Museum by Frank Gehry amongst its numerous buildings by renowned architects. Today, in combining technical and conceptual expertise with the creativity of contemporary designers, Vitra seeks to continue pushing the boundaries of design. Each season, Vitra releases product updates and provides inspiration by showcasing fresh, unexpected ideas for the home. This winter, the home stories involve two Berlin-based artists: Nata Lee Hahn and Kitty Kahane, whose homes - and the Vita products they contain - express the individual personality of their inhabitants.

To mark the 25th anniversary of Vitra's re-edition and the 75th anniversary of the original launch to market, this season Vitra has released a limited edition of George Nelson's famous Ball Clock. Limited to just 600 pieces worldwide, the special edition comprises four colour variants - Dawn, Sunrise, Sunset and Dusk - which interpret the moods of different times of day with atmospheric colour gradients. Plus, there is an offer of a free ottoman or panchina for orders of a Grand Relax, Grand Repos or Repos lounge chair.

The Ottoman as a gift

Buy a Grand Relax, Grand Repos or Repos lounge chair and receive the matching ottoman or panchina as a free gift. The reduced price is shown on the product page and this offer is valid from Friday 1 November 2024 to Friday 31 January 2025. As the gift represents a substantial discount, no other discounts can be applied in conjunction with this offer - standard terms and conditions apply.

The swivel-based lounge chairs Repos and Grand Repos offer unparalleled comfort with their generous padding, inviting armrests and synchronised mechanism concealed beneath the upholstery. The chairs allow the sitter to move from an upright position to a reclined angle for resting, locking the backrest in any position. The resistance of the backrest can be manually adjusted to the user's weight. The fully removable covers come in a choice of fabrics and leathers and a wide range of colours, and all the plastic components in the inner construction are made of 95% recycled materials.

Grand Relax is a luxurious reclining lounge chair combining outstanding comfort with compact dimensions and a classic understated aesthetic. When sitting down, the user sinks into the soft cushions, and the chair reclines thanks to an integrated and adjustable synchronised mechanism concealed within the seat. The backrest can be locked in any position. The outer backrest is covered with embossed split leather, forming a type of shield that enfolds the user, while defining the contours of the lounge chair. Grand Relax appears both compact and inviting.

Limited Edition Nelson Ball Clock

In 1947, American designer George Nelson was commissioned to create a collection of clocks. One of these first timepieces was the wall-mounted Ball Clock, which went on to become an icon of American mid-century Modernism over the ensuing decades. In the thirty-five years that followed, the designers at Nelson Associates conceived more than a hundred different models: wall clocks, portable table clocks and built-in clocks. Vitra began reissuing the Nelson clocks in 1999. The special limited edition Nelson Ball Clock in four atmospheric colour gradients is limited to 600 pieces.
