Description

DSW Eames Plastic Side Chair RE - now made from recycled plastic. The Eames plastic chair is a contemorary version of the legendary Fiberglass Chair designed in 1950. It was originally produced in collaboration with Zenith Plastics for the Museum of Moderm Art's Low-Cost Furniture Design Competition and was the first industrially manufactured plastic chair. The acronym stands for Dining (height) Side (chair) Wood (base).The DSW is available with legs in yellowish maple, dark maple or black stained maple.

As of January 2024, Eames plastic chair shells are manufactured by Vitra from post-consumer recycled plastic (see below). Due to the composition of the recycled material, the different colour variations of the seat shells are interspersed with tiny specks of pigment.
