In 1947, a group of Pirelli technicians began experimenting with new materials and technologies in the creation of cutting-edge, modern furniture, in conjunction with architect Marco Zanuso. Thus the Arflex brand was established, on the meeting of technology and aesthetic sensibilities, and driven by a high level of research and experimentation. Officially presented to the public in 1951, Arflex quickly gained recognition for their manufacturing philosophy. Having won numerous awards and much recognition, many pieces have made their way into permanent collections at the world’s leading museums. Today, Arflex continues to be renowned for its innovative approach and exploration of new technologies, materials and designs.

In recent years, Arflex has increased its collection with significant pieces from its historical archive, designed by Italian architects such as Cini Boeri, Franco Albini and Mario Marenco. Alongside contemporary designers such as Neri&Hu and Claesson Koivisto Rune, the Arflex range balances heritage and innovation.

Arflex - A Celebration of Heritage, Innovation and Craftsmanship

For the London Design Festival 2026, Aram presents landmark pieces from Arflex’s archive alongside its latest contemporary releases. The showcase on the first floor of our Drury Lane showroom will highlight the breadth of Arflex’s designs and fabrications, presenting a wide range of pieces together in one setting, including several making their UK debut.

Arflex embodies the excellence of ‘Made in Italy’ design, transforming its unique heritage into a legacy of innovation, craftsmanship and design culture. Founded by Pirelli engineers and executives, the company pioneered a new vision for upholstered furniture through research, experimentation and material innovation. Today, its family-led story continues to embody passion, expertise and attention to detail, balancing tradition with a distinctive savoir-faire.

Celebrating the enduring relevance of Arflex’s designs, the carefully curated presentation will feature classic pieces, including the Marius&Marius and Marenco sofas, both designed by renowned Italian designer Mario Marenco in the 1970s. These historic works will be presented alongside new collections that demonstrate Arflex’s ongoing exploration of form, materials and contemporary living.

The showcase will introduce Arflex’s 2026 launches, including the Càmila sofa, Pair dining table, Antea dining chairs, Treboli shelves, Treboli coffee table, Marea coffee tables in new sizes and finishes, as well as updated versions of the Tokio sofa seating system and Botolo in a new finish.

The London Design Festival runs from 12 to 19 September 2026 and the presentation will continue at Aram until December.
