Description
The Hans Wegner Wishbone chair, also known as the CH24 or ‘Y’ chair, is an instantly recognisable Danish design classic. Much copied, the licensed original is manufactured to the highest quality standards in Denmark by Carl Hansen & Son, in constant production since its introduction in 1950. The elegant and sculptural form takes over 100 steps to create, many of which are carried out by hand; it takes a skilled craftsman more than an hour and 120 metres of paper cord to weave the seat, providing durability and stability. Available in solid beech, oak, ash, walnut or cherry with a choice of finishes: oiled, soaped or lacquered in a wide variety of colours - contact the store for the full range. Solid wood frame: beech, oak, ash, teak or walnut
Finishes:
Soaped – raw wood impregnated with soap which helps lift out marks when lightly cleaned with a damp sponge; pale in colour
Oiled – adds depth and lustre to the visible grain of the wood, gradually darkening to a rich patina over time. Oak can be lightened with white pigmented oil
Clear lacquer – a smooth gloss surface finish highlighting the wood grain, darkening and yellowing with time
Coloured lacquer – beech – a smooth uniform finish with no visible wood grain (care should be taken not to chip painted beech)
Coloured lacquer - oak - a robust semi smooth finish that allows the structure and grain of the oak wood to show through
Woven paper cord: natural or black
