George Nelson

George Nelson
George Nelson (1908-1986) was one of the founding fathers of American modernism. After studying and graduating in architecture and fine arts at Yale University in 1931, Nelson travelled throughout Europe where he met a number of modernist pioneers. He was part of a generation of architects that found too few projects and turned successfully toward product, graphic and interior design. Later his work as a designer produced some of the best known Mid-Century Modern designs. He is well known for his playful clock designs for Vitra including Omar the Owl and the Ball Clock. Aram stocks a range of his clocks and furniture, such as the Coconut chair.
