Wilhelm Knoll founded his eponymous company in 1865; it was then run by his sons Walter and Willy after which Walter founded his own company in 1925 - the two companies merged in 1985. Walter's son Hans and his wife Florence founded Knoll International in the USA in 1938. Walter Knoll is now one of the leading international manufacturers of premium upholstery and office furniture.
