BD Barcelona Design

Established in 1972 as BD Ediciones de Diseño by a group of young architects and designers from Barcelona - Pep Bonet, Cristian Cirici, Lluis Clotet, Mireia Riera and Oscar Tusquets - BD has played a leading role in the international renown of Spanish design. With a non-conformist spirit, the founders sought complete creative freedom and still orientate production towards cultivating beauty while combining artisan processes with industrial technologies, seeking the luxury of things well done and distanced from mass production. BD Barcelona sits on the cusp betweek art and design, combining aesthetics with functionality to offer unique pieces with a strong personality.

Producing furniture and accessories by designers of renown such as Jaime Hayon, Ettore Sottsass, Alfredo Häberli, Salvador Dalí, Oscar Tusquets, Doshi Levien and Antoni Gaudí, BD Barcelona has been recognized with numerous national and international awards, including the most important ones that can be given to a company in this sector: National Design Award in 1989 and European Community Design Prize in 1990. In addition to numerous Gold Deltas from ADI FAD and the Red Dot Design Award Best of the Best in 2011.
