Working with Studio Linse, we completed the furniture supply for the National Gallery’s Bar Giorgio Espresso Bar which opened in May last year. The brief from Studio Linse centred on functionality. With patrons of all ages using the space, seating needed to be simple, supportive, and easily accessible. Modularity was essential, allowing the furniture to be reconfigured or entirely removed for events. As a high-traffic area within a major cultural institution, durability was a priority from the outset.

The specification focused on longevity and ease of maintenance, drawing primarily from Artifort’s 070 range, their Balans side tables and stools from Mater. We supplied furniture with non-standard vinyl upholstery chosen for its hard-wearing properties and straightforward cleaning, ensuring it could withstand daily use. Logistics required coordination around the institution's operational constraints, with deliveries scheduled outside of public hours, which is standard for heritage and cultural projects, but required careful planning nonetheless.

The appointment followed our earlier work at the Royal Opera House in 2018, where the same project team had overseen a smooth delivery. That prior relationship informed the approach for this project, reliable and focused on meeting the practical demands of a busy public space.
