Give Me the Light by Wilson Brothers

A new Wilson Brothers experiment in space-making with line and light. 

In collaboration with Littlehampton Welding, Wilson Brothers present a takeover of our gallery. Working with steel off-cuts from the West Sussex architectural and structural metalwork specialist as a starting point, a series of sculptural light pieces have been created. 

Via processes of cutting, drilling, welding, painting, printing, bolting, and building, Wilson Brothers have developed a modular kit of parts. A group of interchangeable components which allow for infinite variation in configuration; the first iteration of which has been designed for the gallery.

This exhibition celebrates low technology, hands-on making and playful experimentation. A common language of materials and processes connect the family, yet each light is a one-off and remains distinct in scale, proportion, and character. The works which explore form, balance, movement, gravity, and colour, occupy a space between two and three dimensions. The result is a series of luminous objects that sit somewhere between prototype, product, sculpture, and utility.

Ben and Oscar Wilson founded Wilson Brothers in 2005. Their practice spans retail environments including Supreme and Aries stores, sound installations and residential projects across London and internationally. Drawing influence from music, skateboarding, BMX and streetwear culture, the duo creates immersive environments that blur the boundaries between architecture, objects and installations. As they describe their approach, Wilson Brothers “make things that make things happen.”
