The Rogers House

The Rogers House is a utopian prototype and a home that was built by Richard Rogers in 1968 as a home for his parents and a blueprint for industrialised housing. The radical use of fully-glazed facades created a suite of gardens and courtyards where interiors metamorphose into external spaces and vice versa.

The building was recently donated to the Harvard Graduate School of Design, and the brief to Gumuchdjian Architects was to renovate the 50 year old Grade 2* listed building and modify it to accommodate two Fellows and spaces to hold seminars and public events. This resulted in a radical project that saw the replacement and refurbishment of much of the building’s envelope and the redesign of the external grounds.

Aram Contracts worked closely with Gumuchdjian Architects to specify and supply furniture that would reflect the heritage of the site while providing for the new functional uses demanded of the building.
