The Old Vic Backstage is a new six-storey public space near Waterloo that has been receiving fantastic press attention. Our team worked closely with Haworth Tompkins Architects on the specification of a furniture package that held sustainability and thoughtful design at the top of the priorities list.
The product selection for the bar and café areas included &Tradition Betty TK3 and TK11 chairs and Ercol Reprise lounge chairs. All upholstered in Camira Mainline Flax made with 75% virgin wool and 25% flax, making the fabric inherently fire retardant and compostable at end of life. The warm orange and red tones bring cohesion across all floors. Alongside these chairs, with flexibility and durability in mind, we specified Pedrali Spa Inox tables with Foresso and Smile Plastics tops.
The result is a vibrant new café, writing room, bar and restaurant space, which fulfilled The Old Vic’s vision for a contemporary and welcoming home for creativity and the local community.
