DESIGNER: GORT SCOTT ARCHITECTS
LOCATION: LONDON
PROJECT COMPLETED: 2025
We are proud to share a newly completed project that sets a benchmark for low-carbon workspace design. Sustainability was a key driver of the design for this new head office for The Portman Estate, with a primary focus on the use of low-carbon materials throughout the scheme.
We worked closely with project lead Gort Scott Architects, who relied on our consultants to guide them towards a furniture package that followed the brief. A particular highlight was the seating supplied by Modus. Based in the UK and offering a large range of seating with removable covers which allows them to be easily restored or replaced, Modus performed strongly against the low-carbon objectives and were an obvious choice to put forward.
Tyde and Joyn desking systems were selected from Vitra as both designs use a high proportion of recycled content, which can be easily maintained or reconfigured providing longevity to the products’ lifecycle. It was also heartening to put forward a high-value product brand such as Vitra and see that The Portman Estate understood the importance of investing in quality; an often-underrated aspect of sustainability credentials.
The result is such a thoughtful, well-balanced and flexible workspace. We were gratified to have played a part in delivering this for The Portman Estate.
