Working with Paola Leon Design, last year we completed a furniture specification package for 30 North Colonnade's reception and lobby. The space serves a multi-tenant office building, housing a diverse range of businesses and industries. Paola Leon Design led the aesthetic direction, while our team navigated the technical challenge of meeting the building's strict fire safety requirements, including specific weight restrictions imposed by the building's fire officer. The brief required furniture that reflected the studio's material-led approach while satisfying these compliance standards.
The furniture selection balanced executive presence with technical necessity. Seating was anchored by the Violin dining chairs and Masculo lounge chairs from Gubi, with Series 430 barstools from Verpan providing additional height-level seating. A mix of table styles supported different functions across the space, Arflex's Tablet Tables in travertine and marble, Ferm Living's Distinct Grande Duo table in travertine, and larger pieces including La Palma's Ori High Table in blanched oak and Audo's Harbour Column Dining table in Kunis Breccia stone.
The weight restrictions required careful consideration of every specification to ensure compliance without compromising on quality or aesthetic. Working closely with Paola Leon Design, we identified finishes and materials that met the fire certification standards while maintaining the level of craft and materiality central to the studio's approach. The result is a cohesive collection suitable for a medium-traffic executive environment, fully compliant with the building's safety requirements and true to the original design vision.
