One of the earliest steel pieces by Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe in 1927. The form is thought to be a modern derivative of 19th century iron rocking chairs. Mies integrated his understanding of materials with his aesthetic ideas to create a classic of modernist design. The large arc of the frame and the freely tensed leather upholstery give the object it’s timelessly elegant character and, just as importantly, allow for a high-degree of sitting comfort. Designed in 1927, made by Thonet, purchased in 1977

W: 560x D: 840x SH: 410 H: 820mm
