L'Art Noir Rug by Eileen Gray for ClassiCon and M2 rugs. Originating from a formative creative period (1920-1935) in which Eileen Gray, influenced by Bauhaus ideals, explored minimalism, symbolic geometry and the emotional power of colour. A series of original gouaches reveals her deep investigation into how black interacts with other hues, arranged within a segmented circular form. This exploration of “black art” gives the rug its name and its distinctive character. Composed of four concentric circles, each divided into contrasting colour halves. The palette evokes stormy seas, pale sand and coastal vegetation, echoing the rug’s original setting in Gray’s Villa E1027 on the Côte d’Azur. Crafted from 100% Himalayan nettle, each rug is hand-spun, environmentally dyed and uniquely expressive. Available in two diameters: 200cm or 300cm. Please contact the store for more information.

100% Himalayan nettle, hand-spun. Hand-knotted with the Tibetan knot and a density of 80 knots per square inch (6.45 cm²).
Environmentally friendly colour pigments, tested according to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100.
Low-maintenance, suitable for Vacuum cleaners.
Produced in collaboration with M2Rugs under the fair trade standards of Label STEP.
Natural materials combined with handmade production techniques give each rug its own character. Colour variations and Dimensional tolerances of +/- 5 cm are possible.
