Milanese designer and architect Gio Ponti was educated in Milan and in 1921 joined the studio of Emilio Lancia and Mino Fiocchi. He has been involved with Italian design and was a strong supporter of the Composso d’Orro awards. In 1957 he designed the celebrated Superleggera chair for Cassina, a wonderfully elegant chair that has left its mark on the world of furniture design.
