New colours for Jacobsen chairs
There can be few chairs as instantly recognisable as Arne Jacobsen's 1955 design, the Series 7 chair. It is an icon of modern furniture history - possibly in part thanks to that infamous 1963 photo of Christine Keeler, although ironically the chair used by photographer Lewis Morley was a cheap copy. The genuine Series 7 chair has stood the test of time - its aesthetics are eternal and its construction provides strength, flexibility and durability despite its slender form.

Less well-known but no less idiosyncratic is the Ant chair designed in 1952 by Jacobsen for the cafeteria of the Danish pharmaceutical firm Novo Nordisk - reminiscent of the silhouette of an industrious ant with its head raised. The third of Jacobsen's stackable wood laminate shell chairs is the Grand Prix (top image) - so named as it won the Grand Prix at the XI Triennale di Milano in 1957. Possibly the most elegant of them all, its flared back and shaped seat provide a handsome profile.
