10 Years of Aram Store
Aram Designs was founded in 1963 and in 1964 Zeev Aram opened his shop at 57 King’s Road, Chelsea. He was the first to introduce designs by Marcel Breuer, the Castiglione brothers and Scarpa to the UK market, swiftly followed by designs from Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand and Pierre Jeanneret. In 1973, Aram Designs moved to larger premises at 3 Kean Street, Covent Garden – the same year that Eileen Gray granted Zeev the worldwide licence to produce and distribute her timeless designs.
Having bought the building next door to 3 Kean Street, and having been joined at Aram Designs by his son and daughter, Daniel and Ruth, Zeev expanded the enterprise to create Aram Store – 20,000 square feet of showroom space and a gallery spread over four floors of the old Victorian warehouse – which opened its doors on the 4th April 2002.
