Antony Chair Limited Edition 2025 by Jean Prouvé for Vitra. Exclusive to Aram in the UK and only available to order until the end of December. The Antony Chair was originally designed for the Cité Universitaire in Antony on the outskirts of Paris in the early 1950s. Production of this design started after Prouvé won the competition to furnish 150 rooms which, at the time, was the largest student residence in Europe. Shortly after, the robust chair with a unique silhouette found its way into corporate and residential interiors. The striking metal support frame bears a structural resemblance to the Compas Direction table which can be seen below. The seat shell is made of European pine which is known for its distinctive grain and has benefitted from a protective wax treatment to emphasise the unique pattern. A tubular brace stablises the legs, while two sheet metal brackets cradle the elegantly curvilinear plywood seat shell. The metal frame is powder-coated in the original Prouvé colour.
