About this designer: Alexander Girard

Alexander Girard, born in 1907 in New York City, was one of the decisive figures of post-war American design alongside his close friends George Nelson and Charles and Ray Eames, particularly as head of Herman Miller’s textile division. He favoured geometric patterns and festive colours, largely inspired by his extensive collection of folk art. In 2000, máXimo partnered with the Girard family to bring his extensive body of work back to life by joining with select companies internationally such as Herman Miller, Vitra and Maharam.
